IF YOU WANT TO STAY RELEVANT AS AN EDUCATOR, DO THIS. A SCHOOL TOO……

Just before the day ends, I have a message for you. Possibly, this is going to be ideas on the marble, so, I advise you to give it some attention and then some thought.

Across the globe, there is a continuous conversation around education, arguably more than ever before. The change in the economic landscape, ICT, biotech, globalization, and digitization is forcing experts to rethink education.

The high demand for creative and innovative individuals that can collaborate to make things happen in the workplace is creating a shift in the way and manner we see education. Even students are demanding something different. What we have now is completely irrelevant to them because of access to information. They want to take ownership, they want to learn at their own pace, and more importantly, they want an education that is in sync with their current reality. Who does dy/dx help, they ask.

There is a tussle between maintaining this model or changing it to something completely different. There are fears associated with what such change will produce.

Demands are increasing for 21st-century skills that are not currently available in our model.

Therefore, as an educator, it is important you lend your voice to the conversation. It is not the time to sit on the fence, rather, the time to actively participate.

Privately owned schools will do well by rethinking their education model, teaching strategies, etc. Consider integrating 21st-century skills into your curriculum — critical thinking, collaboration, etc. This will make you stay afloat of the already fierce competition.

To stay relevant, this is the time for true professionals to begin to upskill and ensure that they are up-to-date with what is going on in the education space globally. There are numerous courses online that can support you in your professional development journey. Some of them are free too.

Be good!!!
